In 2020, I was commissioned by Seattle Public Schools to photograph and produce the first portrait & storytelling book of its kind: an ambitious 8-month project spotlighting the district’s queer and trans students, families, and staff. In January and February, I photographed and interviewed 43 individuals and their families. For the next five months, with the help of co-authors Lisa Love and Christie Skoorsmith, I edited, ghostwrote, designed, sequenced, and worked with a local printer to publish the 100-page coffee table book.
